Fitness businesses have closed everywhere, meaning no revenue for both owners and coaches.
Despite this, many coaches are still posting home workout videos for free on their social media channels, so that their athletes can keep exercising while at home. They have bills to pay, though, which means the free ride will eventually end.
But what if coaches could continue posting free content and yet get some financial return out of it?
Fatless.club will allow coaches to publish their videos and athletes will be able to donate money to their favorite coaches as a gesture of appreciation for their time and effort. Think "YouTube + Patreon" but exclusive for fitness coaches.
This is still a work in progress but if you're interested, enter your email in the box below. No spam, I promise. I just need a way to reach you and let you know “hey, it’s ready!”
Because they're good people, were able to keep their job during all this and/or have some money they can spare, and want to help out someone who needs it more than they do right now. The videos will be available for free, there's no obligation to pay for anything. It's just a way to help others, if they can.
Several coaches gathered on the same site attract more people, which means more potential donations. A personal channel on a traditional video hosting platform will be lost in the ocean of available videos unless you already have a considerable amount of followers. And you can always publish your videos on other platforms as well.
I have no idea. It depends on how famous Fatless.club becomes, how many people like your content enough to make a donation, etc. For now it's impossible to tell. If this works, I will add more features and one of them is paid subscriptions and content, so that coaches can add premium videos and maybe even full courses. That should enable higher revenue but that's just me guessing.
For now, nothing. If the site takes off, it will eventually require two things: more time from me, and money to cover the operational costs (web servers, etc). If and when we get there, I will think about this but it will probably be a tiny percentage of the donations.
Because I want to help in some way. I'm not a health professional, so I can't be in the front lines. I've seen friends who work in the fitness world affected by this, whether because they're now out of a job or even because they had to close their gym. And who knows, maybe after we're all through this, this website can become a business of its own. If not, that's OK - my main goal is to help now.
Several. Some examples:
